Horton claims his conference-leading third Choice Hotels NEC Player of the Week award of the season after sparking the red-hot Blue Devils to their first Western Pennsylvania sweep in nearly a decade. CCSU has now won six in a row and remains one game out of first place in the NEC standings with a 9-3 mark. Horton, who posted his seventh and eighth double-doubles of the year, averaged 24.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks in the two wins. He shot a scorching 65.2 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent (4-8) from three-point range and 93.8 percent (15-16) from the line. Horton contributed 18 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks on Thursday as CCSU won at Saint Francis (PA), 86-79. Two nights later, he was a dominant force in an 80-58 win over Robert Morris. Horton poured in 31 points and grabbed 10 boards, while shooting 9-13 from the field and 11-12 from the stripe. It was the Ossining, NY native’s third 30+ point game of the season and the fourth of his career. Horton currently leads the NEC with 18.6 ppg and eight double-doubles, and also ranks second in rebounding (8.5 rpg), third in blocks (1.4 bpg) and free throw percentage (.867), eighth in field goal percentage (.479) and tenth in steals (1.3 spg).
