Ganjoin has been the hottest bowler on the hottest team in the country, and now has a third NEC Bowler of the Week award to prove it. Fairleigh Dickinson’s lefty leadoff posted a 20.95 frame average to spearhead the Knights’ first-place finish at the 28-team Kutztown University Invitational at Hiester Lanes in Reading, PA. The Knights, who bumped their overall win percentage to .828, won 13 of the 15 matches they contested at what was the nation’s largest NCAA regular season meet. Competing for the first time since her performance at St. Paul’s Jeannette Lee Invitational earned her NEC Bowler of the Week honors on December 8, Ganjoin posted an .899 filled frames percentage over the three-day event. She converted 54.4 percent of her strike opportunities and left only 14 opens out of 139 frames. The senior southpaw from the Jersey Shore accounted for 2,912 total pinfall over six traditional team games, all of which were victories for FDU. Gainjoin’s 217.0 traditional game average at Kutztown was good enough to land the three-time NEC Bowler of the Week on the KU All-Tournament Team. Ganjoin opened traditional play by uncharacteristically rolling a 169, but proceeded to eclipse the 220-pin mark in four of her next five games. She closed out the traditional portion of the meet by bowling a high game of 253, leading FDU to a 1102-1001 win over No. 13 Valparaiso. Ganjoin was sensational during championship bracket play on Sunday, leading FDU to three consecutive best-of-seven baker victories and the tournament title. After failing to fill the second baker frame she bowled, Ganjoin caught fire. She strung together 18 straight marks, beginning in Game 2 of FDU’s 4-to-0 win over No. 7 Kutztown and continuing throughout the Knights’ 4-to-2 win over No. 12 Vanderbilt. After registering either a strike or 9-spare in 12 consecutive frames, her filled-frames streak appeared to be in jeopardy when she led off Fairleigh’s fourth game against Vandy with a split. The veteran southpaw was able to clean up the mess with a spare and threw a strike in four of five ensuing frames.
