Jones becomes the third different NEC high jumper to claim a weekly rookie award this season. The first-year Blue Devil took third place at the Great Dane Classic in New York City by clearing 2.01m (6’ 7”). Although the mark stands three centimeters shy of the qualifying standard for the IC4A Championships, Jones has already punched his ticket to the regional championship meet thanks to his seasonal best mark of 2.04 (6’ 8.75”) from earlier this month.
