With Monmouth competing against the region’s top programs, Elardo produced his biggest throw yet. The senior shot putter exceeded 60 feet to win the Great Dane Classic in New York City. Elardo's meet-record heave of 18.31m (60’ 1") him up to tenth overall on the NCAA leader board and puts the former Shore Conference high school standout in an exclusive class of collegiate throwers. Having also produced the NEC’s top weight throw mark (18.50m - 60’ 8.5") at the Great Dane Classic, Elardo is one of only three Division I athletes to have eclipsed 60 feet in both the shot put and weight throw this season (Kansas’ Mason Finely and Ohio State’s Matt DeChant).
