Leach scored no fewer than 15 points in any of Saint Francis’ three NEC victories last week. The two-time all-NEC guard averaged 19.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on the way to her second Choice Hotels Player of the Week honor this season. Leach shot 47 percent from the field and thrived under pressure during a trio of wins that allowed Saint Francis to remain one of two NEC unbeatens (4-0). Helping the defending NEC champion Red Flash outlast the team picked to succeed them, Leach peaked by pouring in 25 points at Long Island. Reaching the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season, the senior guard was 9-for-18 shooting in what was a repeat of the 2010 NEC Championship Game. Leach gave Saint Francis the lead for good when her jumper broke a 52-52 tie with 3:04 remaining at LIU. She also added a pair of free throws that gave the Flash a three-point cushion with 00:11 left to play. The 5-foot-10 veteran turned in another team high on the other side of the Verrazano Bridge, netting 17 points in a two-point win at Wagner. With the Flash clinging to a 59-58 lead and just over three minutes left, Leach stuck a jumper to give Saint Francis a bit of breathing room in the eventual 65-63 win at Wagner. After spearheading the Red Flash’s successful sweep through New York City, Leach scored 15 points, grabbed six boards, and dished out three assists in a 13-point road win over Mount St. Mary’s. Leach, who has scored at least 10 points in all 16 games of her senior year, upped her career scoring total to 1,304 points and moves into 10th place on the program’s all-time list.
