Spanou returns to the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week post she first held back on November 15. This time, the acknowledgement comes as a result of the rookie forward’s effort in Robert Morris’ 66-52 road win over Virginia Tech. Helping the Colonials capture the program’s first ever win over an ACC member, Spanou tallied 18 points and seven rebounds in 39 minutes of floor time. She shot 64 percent (7-of-11) from the field, including a 4-for-7 clip from three-point range. The 6-foot freshman was equally as impressive on the defensive end where she recorded three blocks and a pair of steals. Spanou exploded for five points, one block, and one steal during an 11-3 run that stretched RMU’s lead to 12, its largest at the time, with 4:32 left in the first half.
