Laury looked everything like the NEC’s top returning scorer last week. Leading Fairleigh Dickinson to a pair of wins, the 5-foot-7 guard averaged 24.5 points per contest on 58 percent (18-of-31) shooting. Laury also contributed 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game in victories over Columbia and Army. She accounted for the NEC’s highest single-game point total thus far this season by pouring in 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting in a 61-50 road win at Columbia. In FDU’s home opener against Army four days later, Laury led the Knights to a 52-43 triumph by scoring 22 points and dishing out five assists. Shooting well from all areas of the floor last week, Laury connected on 3-of-4 three-point attempts and made 83.3 percent (10-of-12) of her free throws. Laury, who averaged 17.6 points per game on the way to an all-NEC second team selection in 2009-10, is the conference’s early season scoring leader with 18.3 points per contest this November.
