Trudell’s 221.6 traditional average topped all freshmen, and ranked third overall, at the 10-team Northeast Conference Fall Meet. The first-year Pioneer led the defending NEC champions to a 6-3 record during the first of three regular season meets the conference will sponsor this season. Only NEC Bowler of the Week Danielle McEwan of National No. 1 FDU and Kutztown’s Kayla Jones produced a higher total pinfall than Trudell’s two-day total of 1,994. The Rhode Island native started slow, bowling a combined 360 over her first two games, before shooting up the individual leader board. After opening with two sub-200 games, her lone two of the weekend, she totaled at least 207 pins in each of SHU’s last seven matches. She nearly carried the Pioneers to victory by logging a 264 game in an eight-pin setback to St. Francis (NY). Trudell spearheaded Sacred Heart’s back-to-back 1,000-plus efforts. The rookie righty turned in a 243 game in a 1094-874 win over Monmouth followed by a high game of 268 in a 1037-974 defeat of Adelphi. Over the course of the weekend, Trudell threw 58 strikes in 101 attempts (.580) and filled 89.0 percent of frames bowled.
