Romain remained the NEC Rookie of the Week by turning in his second consecutive 100-yard rushing performance. After totaling 152 all-purpose yards in a win over Sacred Heart, Romain ran wild in a home victory over Wagner. The freshman tailback carried 28 times for 193 yards and one touchdown to lead the Danes to a second consecutive NEC win. Romain averaged 6.9 yards per carry on his way to setting the program’s single-game rushing record for a freshman. He accounted for all 64 yards on the opening scoring driving of the second half, capping the five-play sequence by running 25 yards for the tiebreaking touchdown. Romain made sure the lead held up, allowing Albany to dominate possession in the fourth quarter. Romain ran 14 times for 119 yards to run out the clock on Wagner, as the Danes’ offense remained on the field for 13:20 in the final quarter. The 193-yard rushing output was the highest by a Great Dane since David McCarty ran for 271 yards in the 2008 Gridiron Classic.
