Wagstaff was at the forefront of a pass defense that stifled NEC champion Robert Morris. The junior cornerback and his mates held the Colonials’ passing attack to 4.3 yards per attempt while intercepting quarterback Jeff Sinclair on three occasions in the 27-21 upset victory. Wagstaff logged three tackles, all of the solo variety, and produced a game-changing play in Bryant’s first-ever win over a nationally-ranked FCS opponent. With Robert Morris 17 yards away from the game-tying score after its defense recovered a fumble, Wagstaff swung momentum back in the Bulldogs’ direction. He picked off pass on 2nd-and-12 and returned it 90 yards for a touchdown that gave Bryant a 20-7 lead heading into halftime.
