Romain turned in a career performance to help Albany snap its uncharacteristic three-game NEC losing streak. The freshman tailback totaled a career-best 152 all-purpose yards, 101 of which came rushing the football, and two touchdowns in the Great Danes’ 35-23 road win over Sacred Heart. Romain made two receptions for 23 yards and logged a 28-yard kickoff return in addition to his first-ever 100-yard rushing performance. With Albany facing a 7-0 deficit and a short field in the closing minutes of the first half, Romain sparked the Great Danes’ attack with a pair of third-down conversions. He caught a 22-yard pass on 3rd-and-5 to move to chains and bring the Danes down to the 14-yard line. Three plays later, he converted a 3rd-and-3 situation by running seven yards for a game-tying score. Romain carried twice for 22 yards on the opening drive of second half that resulted in touchdown. On the Great Danes’ following possession, he logged three carries for 35 yards and capped Albany’s third consecutive scoring drive with a 20-yard run that bumped the lead to 21-7. After SHU pulled within seven points late in the third quarter, Romain provided a spark on special teams. He returned a short kickoff 28 yards to mid-field, and watched the Danes double their lead to 28-14 six plays later.
