DiMichele led a defensive effort that locked up the NEC’s top rushing attack and allowed Robert Morris to lock up the conference’s automatic bid to the Division I FCS playoffs in the process. The senior linebacker, who is in his third season at RMU after transferring from Temple, made 13 tackles and a game-changing play in the Colonials’ 42-24 victory over defending NEC champion Central Connecticut. DiMichele stood tall during Central Connecticut’s opening drive, making three tackles. With CCSU facing a 1st-and-10 at RMU’s 16-yard line, he was in on back-to-back stops that helped hold the Blue Devils to a field goal. DiMichele dealt the Blue Devils a serious blow with 2:01 remaining in the first quarter and RMU holding a 14-10 lead. With CCSU backed up to its own two-yard line, DiMichele blasted call carrier Everette Benjamin behind the line of scrimmage. The hit forced Benjamin to fumble, and DiMichele pounced on it at the one-yard line. RMU scored on the ensuing play for a 21-10 advantage as CCSU goot no closer than 11 points the rest of the way. He also added a pass break-up to his 13-tackle effort that limited CCSU to its lowest rushing output of the season (75 yards). It was only the second time that an opposing defense held the Blue Devils under the 100-yard rushing mark in 2010.
