Kinne, a Hermann Trophy candidate, earns his second adidas/Northeast Conference Player of the Week honor of the year and fourth of his career after a five-point week for #12 ranked Monmouth. The Hawks, who have won four straight and are 6-0-2 in their last eight matches, clinched an NEC playoff berth and moved into first place last week with a 2-1 overtime win over Saint Francis (PA) and a 3-0 shutout of Robert Morris. Kinne opened the scoring in a matchup with fellow NEC contender Saint Francis (PA) on Friday, sending in a 25-yard free kick in the 35th minute. Just under nine minutes into overtime, he lifted a corner into the box, which was headed in by Erkko Puranen for the game-winner. In Sunday’s win over Robert Morris, Kinne scored his 35th career goal on a header off a set piece from Ryan Clark to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead in the 53rd minute. Kinne, who hails from Naugatuck, CT, leads the NEC with 28 points and ranks second with 12 goals. On a national basis, he ranked 10th in goals per game and 12th in points per game in last week’s NCAA statistics.
