Russ and the Robert Morris rushing attack were in control from the start to the finish of a 38-0 NEC victory over Albany. Leading the Colonials to a sixth consecutive win, Russ piled up 138 rushing yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. The senior halfback set the tone on the Colonials’ second play from scrimmage, breaking free for a 53-yard gain that set up the game’s first touchdown. He ran three times for 47 yards on RMU’s second scoring drive, doubling the Colonials’ lead on a 32-yard touchdown scamper. After his four carries set up a field goal that increased RMU’s lead to 38-0 with 1:41 left in the third quarter, Russ spent the rest of the game watching from the sideline. The 5-foot-8 hard-running Floridian needs 134 more yards to set the RMU’s all-time rushing record. Russ (3,714 yds.) ranks fifth in all-time NEC annals and his 6.0 yards-per-carry average tops the Northeast Conference this season.
