Calderon came up big for the Knights, who jumped back into the thick of the NEC playoff race with a win and a tie over a pair of top contenders last week. The San Jose, Costa Rica native scored the first two goals of his career on the week, including the game-winner as FDU tagged Saint Francis (PA) with its first conference loss on Sunday. With the match scoreless in the 31st minute, Calderon broke through the Red Flash defense and fired in a shot from 20 yards out for the game’s lone goal. Two days earlier, he netted the game-tying marker in the 71st minute on a 20-yard blast as the Knights drew with red-hot Robert Morris, 1-1. Calderon is the first NEC competitor to earn dual Player and Rookie honors since teammate Dominic Reinold claimed both awards on November 9, 2009.
