Huot becomes the second Bryant freshman to claim the NEC Rookie of the Week award this fall season. On his way to joining the likes of teammate Dana Parziale, Huot came within a third-set super tiebreaker of winning the Flight D singles bracket at the second annual Stony Brook Invitational. After besting an opponent from Bowdoin, 8-6, in the Round of 16, the first-year Bulldog posted back-to-back straight set victories to reach the championship match. First, he dealt Stony Brook’s Mehmet Duru a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (9) defeat in a two-set quarterfinal marathon. Next, he made quick work of Middlebury’s Johann Riefkohl, posting a 6-1, 6-4 win in the semis. Huot won the first set of his title match against Concordia’s Tamas Dobrotka, but his counterpart battled back for a 5-7, 6-2, 10-3 win.
