Paiz within a third-set super tiebreaker of capturing his first-ever tournament title at the collegiate level. The first-year Knight was the runner-up in the Flight C singles bracket at the Bucknell Invitational. Seeded fourth, Paiz reached the final by posting straight-set victories over opponents from George Mason and UConn as well as the flight’s top-seeded player. After ousting GMU’s Devin Leonard (6-4, 6-0) and UConn’s Matt Burns (6-3, 6-4), Paiz took on his FDU teammate Andrew Denny, the No. 1 seed, in the semifinal round. Following a convincing 6-4, 6-0 win over Denny, Paiz fell to Greg Maxson of the host Bison in a third-set super tiebreaker. Paiz becomes the second different FDU freshman to win the NEC Rookie of the Week award (Dominic Devaux-Lovell - Sept. 21.) this fall.
