Labarthe ran her season-opening win streak to seven matches before falling in the final round of her bracket at the Eastern Championship hosted by Army. She advanced to the C Flight title tilt by posting three consecutive wins, all in straight sets. First, she knocked off Kate Donnelly of NEC rival Sacred Heart, 6-2, 6-3. In the quarterfinal round, Labarthe made quick work of Marist’s Maria Eduarda Yurgel, 6-2, 6-1. The first-year Bobcat then earned a ticket to the final by picking up another 6-2, 6-1 win over Pittsburgh’s Jocelyn Lu. Labarthe adds the NEC Player of the Week honor to what has been a September to remember for the Oklahoma City product. She won the first three Rookie of the Week awards given out by the NEC this month.
