Labarthe locks up her second NEC rookie honor in the season’s first two weeks thanks to her performance at the Quinnipiac Invitational. Contesting a singles tournament for the first time at the collegiate level, Labarthe put together four consecutive victories to win the Flight B title. The Oklahoma City product played some of her best tennis in the championship match, blanking Rhode Island’s Kirsten Leikem, 6-0, 6-0. That win came after Labarthe survived her toughest test of the tournament, a 6-2, 1-6, 10-5 triumph over Alexa Gregory in the semifinal round. Labarthe, who posted a perfect 5-0 record two weeks ago at the Fairfield Doubles Festival, also defeated opponents from Fordham and rival Sacred Heart at this past weekend’s Quinnipiac Invitational.
