DeMedal’s second career start resulted in five tackles and an interception. The rookie defensive back was part of a secondary that limited Sacred Heart and its prolific passing attack to 119 yards. He set the tone for the second half by snuffing out the Pioneers’ first drive after the break. After SHU marched down to Saint Francis’ 29-yard line, DeMedal picked off Dale Fink, the NEC’s fourth all-time leading passer, and returned the ball 30 yards into Pioneers’ territory. He also was credited with a pass break-up earlier in the day.
