Schirtzinger was at his best in Robert Morris’ 30-23 victory over No. 15 Liberty. He punted six times for a total of 266 yards and added a touchdown-saving tackle late in the fourth quarter. The 5-foot-8 West Virginian placed two of his six kicks inside the opponents’ 20-yard line and none went for touchbacks. Schirtzinger, who has earned all-NEC honors during two of his first three seasons, booted a gem that was downed at Liberty’s 2-yard line midway through the third quarter. Backed up in their own end, the Flames suffered a safety three plays later. His next punt went 37 yards down to the opponents’ 4. The NEC’s active leading punter, who averaged 44.3 yards per kick vs. Liberty, came up big again in the game’s final minutes. After punting 48 yards to the Flames’ 7-yard line, Schirtzinger tackled the returner near midfield with 5:09 to play.
