Parker was a key reason why the Saint Francis defense silenced Sacred Heart and the NEC’s active leading passer. Nicknamed “Mad Dog” by his teammates, the senior linebacker was all over the field during Saturday’s 41-0 shutout victory. Parker made 10 tackles, including 2.0 stops for a loss, and also found the end zone on an interception return for a touchdown. Six of his 10 tackles limited the ball carrier to three or fewer yards. Parker also played well in pass coverage, helping hold SHU’s Dale Fink, the NEC’s fourth all-time passer, to 72 yards through the air. The Pioneers entered the game having averaged 276.5 pass yards over the season’s first two contests, but their aerial attack totaled only 119 yards against the Red Flash. Parker put an exclamation points on the victory when he made the team’s seventh interception of the day and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown with 10:06 remaining in the fourth quarter.
