Russ carried Robert Morris to a last-minute victory over No. 15 Liberty. The senior running back scored three times (2 rush, 1 rec) and compiled 229 all-purpose yards, the final 12 of which came on the game-winning touchdown run with 22 seconds remaining in regulation. Russ totaled 153 yards on 20 rushing attempts and was also a factor in passing game. He made two receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown in the 30-23 victory over the three-time defending Big South champion Flames. On RMU’s opening possession, he took a screen pass from quarterback Jeff Sinclair and raced 67 yards for the game’s first touchdown. His four-yard TD run capped a six-play drive and gave the Colonials a 23-20 lead 4:40 into the final period. Averaging 7.7 yards per carry, the hard-running Russ gained at least 10 yards on eight of his attempts.
