Penas made her collegiate debut this past week and wasted no time in taking over the Northeast Conference scoring lead. The freshman back tallied 13 points (5G, 3A) in a pair of lopsided victories that bumped the Broncs’ record up to a perfect 3-0. Penas notched a pair of goals and an assist during what was her first half of college hockey in Rider’s eventual 5-0 win over Colgate. Her blast in the sixth minute against Colgate opened the game’s scoring, and her chip-in off a penalty corner in the 30th minute gave Rider a 4-0 advantage. Penas was even more productive offensively in the Broncs’ 8-3 rout of Penn, the first-ever meeting between the two schools. With Rider facing an early 1-0 deficit, Penas found the back of the net twice in a 1:43 span to give the Broncs the lead for good. She completed the hat trick by scoring a third time 2:35 after halftime, extending Rider’s lead to 7-1.
