The freshman began her career in decisive fashion, netting all three goals for the Hawks in consecutive opening victories over NJIT and No. 17 Rutgers. The freshman forward, who has three goals on four shots, put away the game winner in the sixth minute to lead Monmouth to their first win over nationally-ranked rival Rutgers since 1989. The first two goals of Costello’s career came in each half to lead Monmouth to a 2-0 season-opening win at NJIT on Friday night. Her precise offensive skills earned Costello six points on the season and a place in Hawk history as the only rookie to ever open the season scoring the side's first multiple goals.
