Rider has been home to a number of the NEC’s top rookies in recent years and Govannicci looks to continue that trend. After providing the deciding tally in the Broncs’ 4-1 victory over La Salle, Govannicci captures the season’s first NEC Rookie of the Week award. With the contest deadlocked at 1-1 and 27:00 gone by, the freshman foward redirected a shot past La Salle goalie Emma Ruth. Govannicci totaled three shots in her first collegiate appearance. It is the second consecutive season during which the NEC's first Rookie of the Week resides at Rider (current sophomore Jackie Adams accomplished the feat Aug 31, 2009).
