Blessington keeps the NEC Rookie of the Week award in Long Island hands, capturing the honor that teammate Aleksandra Pavlovic held the last two weeks. The first-year Blackbird was dominant in the No. 4 singles position, winning all three of her matches in straight sets. Blessington opened the week by blanking Fordham’s Jenny Mullen, 6-0, 6-0, as part of LIU’s 7-0 team victory. She repeated that result against Monmouth’s Katie Tierney, helping the Blackbirds cruise to a 7-0 shutout of the NEC rival Hawks. Blessington finally dropped a game when she faced Fairleigh Dickinson’s Egzona Morina, but still managed a fairly easy 6-2, 6-0 win.
