Competing at the star-studded Florida Relays, Akello set Long Island’s program record in the 800-meter run. She completed the race in 2:11.95 to claim eight place at the meet and assume the NEC lead in the event. Her time was the best amongst all freshmen competitors in the 32-entrant field and just misses the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships.
