Fresh off winning her second straight MVP award at February’s NEC Indoor Championship, Gaines showed no signs of slowing during her first performance of the outdoor season. Gaines took a commanding lead over the NEC in 100-meter hurdles by crossing the line in 13.84 at William & Mary’s Colonial Relays. Her time surpasses the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships by 0.5 second. Gaines just missed a second ECAC qualifier in the 200-meter dash, logging a time of 24.86 that stands as the NEC’s second-best thus far this season.
