Russow stepped up and delivered 8.1 masterful innings of shutout relief in Quinnipiac’s series finale against Sacred Heart. After the scheduled starter surrendered six runs in two-thirds of an inning, Russow came out of the bullpen to pick up his teammate and give the Bobcats an opportunity to storm back for a 10-6 victory that gave them a series split with their Merritt Parkway rivals. Silencing a Sacred Heart lineup that leads the NEC in hits (222 in 22 gms), the freshman pitcher scattered four hits and allowed no runs the remainder of the way. He issued only one base on balls and struck out six batters on the way to his first collegiate win. He earns both the Akadema NEC pitcher and rookie awards for his efforts.
