Salomon went 3-0 in singles play last week to win the NEC Rookie of the Week award for a second time this academic year. The Mount St. Mary’s freshman posted a pair of straight-set victories at No. 2 singles as part of team wins over District of Columbia and George Mason. He defeated UDC’s Mahamut Kemirkol, 6-4, 6-2, before topping Mason’s Greg Donabedian, 7-6, 6-4. Those wins came after Salomon accounted for the Mount’s lone team point in a setback to Bucknell, outlasting the Bison’s Gregg Cohenca in a third set super tiebreaker (4-6, 7-5, 10-8). Salomon has posted an 11-3 dual match record at No. 2 singles and has helped the Mount to five more team victories than it had all of last year when it finished 3-18.
