Akello made her mark on the Northeast Conference during her first collegiate indoor season, and the rookie wasted no time in doing the same now that outdoor has begun. The mid-distance runner placed third in the 800m run at this past weekend’s USC Trojan Invitational. Her bronze medal time of 2:13.07 makes her Long Island’s all-time record holder in the event and places her atop the 2010 NEC leader board. Akello was a two-time Road Runner Sports Rookie of the Week during the indoor campaign before capturing the first rookie award of spring season.
