Hidalgo continues to appear comfortable in her spot atop Bryant’s singles lineup. She split a pair of matches there last week on the way to her second NEC rookie award since the start of spring season. Hidalgo helped the Bulldogs to a 7-0 shutout of Puerto Rico–Rio Piedras during the team’s Spring Break trip, notching wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. The native of Ecuador bested Maria Pacheco, 6-2, 6-1, after teaming up with Valeria Couto Cuervo to defeat UPR’s top doubles’ team by an 8-3 score. Unable to help Bryant score a team point against East Carolina, Hidalgo fell to the Pirates’ Jessica Cool in No. 1 singles play, 6-2, 6-2, following an 8-7 doubles loss.
