Breese kept Monmouth within striking distance over 6.2 innings at San Diego, who has averaged 5.8 runs and 9.8 hits over its first 17 games. He surrendered six hits and three earned runs during the 115-pitch outing. Bouncing back from the 3-2 road loss to the Toreros, Breese tossed 7.0 shutout innings to win at Navy. The New Jersey product held the Midshipmen to five hits, only one of which went for extra bases, while fanning four.
