Kasyanov opened his spring season in the same way he closed the fall campaign, winning a Northeast Conference accolade. The third-year Pioneer posted a 4-2 record at No. 1 singles to capture the NEC Player of the Month award. He most recently knocked off a pair of regional rivals in team victories over Holy Cross and Bryant. Kasyanov dominated Matt Wierzel, 6-1, 6-0, in a 7-0 team shutout of the Crusaders. Then, in SHU’s 5-2 win over NEC newcomer Bryant, Kasyanov again won in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. The Pioneers’ top player downed Dartmouth’s Stephen Greif in his first match of the spring semester before notching a win over NJIT’s Fraser Croad, both in straight sets. One of Kasyanov’s rare setbacks came at the hands of Dartmouth’s Dan Freeman in a third-set tiebreaker at the ECAC Championships.
