Carrillo was a key factor in Fairleigh Dickinson’s second-place showing at last weekend’s Morgan State Invitational, which featured a field of 26 teams. Completing 95 frames over the course of the tournament, the sophomore led the team in both overall pinfall (1,856) and strike percentage (.455). Carrillo turned in the tournament’s third-highest traditional average (200.0) and maintained a hot hand throughout baker play. She filled 85.42 percent of frames bowled while accounting for a 19.54 overall frame average. After averaging 180.5 in a pair of traditional game victories over No. 2 Maryland-Eastern Shore and Hampton, Carrillo exploded by exceeding the 200-pin mark in each of her next three games. She bowled a 225 in a win over Virginia State, a 202 in a victory over NEC rival Kutztown, and a 212 in a triumph over Howard. The NEC Bowler of the Week award is the first ever for Carrillo, who was twice honored as the NEC Rookie of the Week as a freshman.
