Martinson has been a catalyst for the Blackbirds from the 2-hole thus far this season, batting .387 and reaching base at a .441 clip. In 10 games, the senior has recorded 12 hits, including a three-hit performance against Florida Gulf Coast on Feb. 21. Martinson tallied four steals in each of her first three seasons at LIU but has been lightning on the paths in 2010, swiping five bags in as many attempts. This is the left fielder’s first-ever Akadema/NEC Player of the Week selection since beginning her career in Brooklyn in 2007.
