Smith set Sacred Heart’s weight throw record by turning in a huge personal best at the Yale Giegengack Invitational. The second-year Pioneer tossed the 20 lb. weight 18.39m (60’ 4”) to top a field of 18 competitors. Smith, who began throwing the weight only one year ago, has eclipsed the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships on six occasions this year. Taking over the post most-recently held by SHU high jumper Brittany Dexter, Smith captures Road Runner Sports NEC Field Athlete honors for a third time this season.
