Competing in the 60-meter hurdles for only the second time this indoor season, Gaines looked much like the athlete that captured two individual titles and MVP honors at the 2009 NEC Championships. The second-year Blackbird added the Metropolitan Conference crown to her resume this past weekend, winning the 60-meter hurdles in 8.68s. Her first-place time, which came in well under the qualifying standard for the ECAC Championships, makes Gaines the NEC leader for the event.
