McEwan makes it two NEC Rookie of the Week awards in a row after helping Fairleigh Dickinson to a second-place showing at the 19-team University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Classic. Topping her mark of a week ago, the FDU freshman posted a 19.54 frame average over 13 matches. McEwan left only 27 opens in the 138 frames she bowled, resulting in a .797 filled frames percentage. The freshman’s red-hot right hand helped FDU to a 4-0 record on the tournament’s first day, which consisted of five-game baker matches. Throwing eight consecutive strikes, she doubled in each of the first four games of a baker match victory (1063-894) over No. 7 Arkansas State. That performance came after she filled her last eight frames, five with strikes, in a 872-863 baker win over No. 15 Morgan State. In the traditional portion of the meet, she posted a 177.00 average.
