Strassner earns her first adidas/NEC Rookie of the Week award for totaling six points in two games. The midfielder has become a big threat on the offensive line for the Bobcats where she scored her third goal of the season in the 3-0 victory against Long Island on Oct. 16, the first goal of the game in the third minute of play. She collected a rebound off an initial shot by Furtuna Velaj and tapped it into the left corner of the net for the score. In Sunday’s rainy game against Wagner, Strassner picked up the first two assists of her career as well as scoring the game’s opening goal in the 18th minute of play off a Velaj corner kick. The Avon, CT native jumped high amongst the mass of players and connected with a header into the upper right corner for her fourth goal of the year. Later in the first half she passed to fellow freshman midfielder Shauna Edwards in front of the net who tapped it low past the Seahawks’ keeper for the 2-0 lead. Four minutes into the second half, Strassner crossed to senior forward Amber Sidoti who tapped it over the goalkeeper for her first goal of the season.
