Kasyanov won three consecutive matches, the last of which came against a Northeast Conference rival, to capture the Flight A title at the Quinnipiac Invitational. The third-year Pioneer received a bye in the Round of 16 and began his championship run by notching a quarterfinal victory over Hofstra’s Stian Tvedt in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Kasyanov posted a comeback win over UConn’s Jai Yoon in the semifinal round, 3-6, 6-3, 10-6. Facing Quinnipiac’s John Hughes in the Flight A final, Kasyanov repaid the Bobcats’ top player for what transpired during the 2009 NEC Semifinals. Hughes won last April’s meeting in straight sets, but Kasyanov turned the tables by winning, 6-1, 6-1, on Sunday in Hamden.
