Weeden’s collegiate singles debut ended with the rookie Bobcat standing atop the Flight B bracket at the UConn Invitational. His run to the title went past three Northeast Conference players, including a Sacred Heart rival and one of his own Quinnipiac teammates. Weeden opened by downing Bucknell’s Kelly Morque, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7. He eased past Sacred Heart’s Jacob Miller, 6-1, 6-1, in the quarterfinal and won his semifinal match against Bryant’s Nicholai Hill in straight sets as well, 6-2, 6-1. Weeden clinched the title when second-year Bobcat James Kwei retired, down 4-1, in the first set of the championship match.
