Velaj earns her first adidas/NEC Player of the Week award of the season scoring three goals and tallying one assist in QU’s 0-1-1 weekend. In a 4-3 loss at Siena College, Velaj opened up the scoring for the Bobcats in the second half as she picked up a rebound inside the scorer's box and snapped it into the low right corner for her second goal of the year. Just minutes later she assisted fellow sophomore Kristina Del Mistro on a free kick to put the Bobcats up 2-1. At URI Velaj scored both goals for the Bobcats in the tie. Her first goal of the game, and third on the season, came in the second half where she fired the ball into the net after the Rams' keeper gave up a rebound. The forward struck again in the 78th minute on a break-away where she lobbed a high shot over the goalkeeper's head for the 2-2 deadlock.
