Helping the Blackbirds top long-time nemesis Hofstra for the second time in five days was Mejia as she broke a scoreless deadlock in the sixth inning with a rip over the left field wall, giving LIU a 2-0 lead. The Blackbirds went on to sweep Hofstra by identical scores of 2-0 on May 2 as they defeated the Pride for the first time since 2004. The homer was Mejia's 13th this season, which ranks third in the NEC and earned the top spot on the program's single-season home run list. Over four games last week, the Sylmar, CA product batted .533, including a 3-for-4 outing against Rutgers on Apr. 30. Against the Scarlet Knights, Mejia added a RBI and a run scored. The shortstop's .404 cumulative batting clip is good for second on the loop, while her .742 slugging percentage ranks third. Mejia also connected for the league's second-best mark with 61 hits and shares the fourth slot on the circuit with 31 RBI.
