Patton reclaims to the Road Runner Sports Field Athlete award, an honor she held until Wagner’s Alaina Alfano briefly dethroned her last week. Patton posted top-five finishes in three of the four jumping events, including a huge victory in the triple jump, at the annual Metropolitan Championships. Well surpassing the qualifying standard for the NCAA East Region Championships, the veteran Blackbird triple jumped 12.70m. The distance is the furthest the NEC has seen since it began keeping regular season records in 2004. Patton added another nine team points toward LIU’s second-place finish by taking fourth in the long jump (5.58m) and fifth in the high jump (1.60m).
