Gordon defeated a pair of formidable No. 1 singles opponents to capture Fairleigh Dickinson’s first NEC Player of the Week award since the fall season. Gordon cooled off Sacred Heart’s Kirill Kasyanov, who had won three straight and 11 of his last 12 matches. Defeating and unseating last week’s NEC honoree, Gordon became only the second man this spring to beat Kasyanov. Following his three set victory (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) over the conference rival, Gordon needed less time to down UMBC’s top player. The second-year Knight defeated the Retrievers’ Nick Savage-Pollock, 7-6, 6-4.
