Gauthier now has the unique distinction of being named both NEC Player of the Week in women’s basketball and NEC Rookie of the Week in women’s lacrosse in the same season. Last week, Gauthier tallied six goals - both game-winners - three assists, eight ground balls, four caused turnovers and a draw control in two wins that clinched an NEC playoff spot and helped keep the Mount alone in first place with a 6-1 conference record. A newcomer to lacrosse who joined the team following a basketball career that saw her score 1,182 points, Gauthier scored twice, and added five ground balls and two caused turnovers in a 12-7 win over Sacred Heart on Thursday in a battle of two of the NEC’s top programs. With the Mount trailing 5-4, she tallied twice in a 5-0 second half run that gave her team the lead for good. Gauthier, who hails from Severna Park, MD, went on to posted career-highs in goals (four), assists (three) and points (seven) in the Mount’s 19-8 conquest of Wagner on Saturday. Since joining the team against Hofstra on March 18th after the conclusion of the women’s basketball season, Gauthier already ranks fifth on the team with nine goals and four assists, and is third in the league with 1.50 caused turnovers per game.
