Babic claims the NEC Player of the Week award for a fourth time this academic year. With her racket as hot as it’s been all season, Babic won four consecutive No. 1 singles matches last week during the Blackbirds’ spring trip to sunny Florida. She needed little time to defeat his first two opponents. Babic cruised past North Dakota State’s Emily Collison, 6-2, 6-1, in a 6-1 LIU victory over the Bison before easing her way by Rhode Island’s Kristen Leiken, 6-2, 6-0. Then Babic dug deep against Rollins’ Roshni Luthra and Coastal Carolina’s Lexi Bolesky, besting each in third-set tiebreakers. The LIU junior posted a perfect 4-0 doubles record last week, too, teaming with H’Ann Johnson in the top slot.
