Lane moved his winter win streak to five matches by triumphing in his lone contest on last week’s docket. After winning all four of his No. 3 singles matches during the month of February, the rookie Bobcat downed Aneil Bhalla of the Nutmeg State rival Hartford Hawks, 6-0, 6-3. The straight-sets victory made Lane the back-to-back NEC Player of the Week. He is the third Bobcat, joining James Kewi and John Hughes, to receive a Northeast Conference weekly award during the 2008-09 campaign. The Quinnipiac freshman has not lost since the Connecticut State Championships last fall when Sacred Heart’s No. 1 racket Kiril Kasayanov eliminated Lane in a third-set super tiebreaker.
